Happy Mother’s Day!
There’s something universal about children gathering around their mother for storytime. Our board member Judy Flores, Shasta County Superintendent of Schools, remembers, “My children just LOVED being read to when they were young. Books were found in almost every room. Before naptime and bedtime, they would all come with several books they wanted read aloud. Sometimes sleep never came, but reading always did!”
Our beautiful library is a FREE resource for Shasta County families. We rely on your support to keep the shelves stocked, and the children’s programs strong. Our libraries offer a variety of programs that support childhood literacy, such as weekly Story Times, Game Nights, as well as Read ‘n’ Track, an app designed to reward kids for reading 20 minutes a day. The Redding Library was even voted “Best Place to Take the Kids” for 2017’s Best of the North State.
We ask you to think back on your childhood memories that you have of storytime with your mother, and consider donating to our libraries, which continue to support storytimes with our community’s children. Your generous donation is greatly appreciated.
